Description
Little Things in a Big Forest
Mushrooms are neither plants or animals, but the fruiting body of a fungus that often grows underneath the surface - mycelium. Mushrooms can seem to grow rapidly as they absorb water; they are short-lived although the underlying mycelium can be long-lived. Example "A colony of Armillaria solidipes (formerly known as Armillaria ostoyae) in Malheur National Forest in the United States is estimated to be 2,400 years old, possibly older, and spans an estimated 2,200 acres." Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
