Description
Western Adder Dragonfly No. 2
A large black and yellow Western Adder Dragonfly settled on an elm tree and looked beautiful against the foliage, so I ran to get my camera and hoped he would stay put. Fortunately, he did.
Dragonflies are predators and will eat most things smaller than themselves. The loss of wetlands threatens them, and while they are fast, they are prey to some birds fast enough such as kestrels, nighthawks, swifts, and flycatchers.
They can move in six directions: up, down, forward, back, left and right and there are four different flight patterns using the forewings and hindwings at different speeds or directions for different styles.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
