A mother goose guides three of her four goslings to another shore for foraging. Dad was waiting for the fourth gosling to catch up. At Delta Ponds, I saw several Dusky Canada Geese with their offspring - some very tiny, some medium, and these in the process of fledging. The ones with younger goslings had about 6-8 offspring, and I assume that a despite the parents protectiveness, a percentage of the goslings get picked off by the herons that also frequent the pond.
