I notice that his tusks are cut. Maybe in order to be protected by poachers? Great capture, Belinda!

I don't think they cut them. I believe the Etosha elephants have mineral deficiencies as they've adapted to desert conditions. In some cases the tusks are broken, which may indicate they're weaker. One elephant we saw only had one tusk.

They may cut the rhino horns though which is more of a problem now in South Africaa.
