Description
Bachelor Stallions Practicing the Art of Fighting, No. 1
This was my first visit to see the Palomino Buttes this year (2018), in what was still late winter on the verge of Spring. Similar to last year at this time, it appears most of the horses were further afield (out of sight and in areas not accesible by my passenger car); in fact the first day, I didn't see any. The second and last day I spotted what was most likely Pallaton a well know beautiful four year old stallion) very far out. But as I reached the waterhole, I was happy to see a group of four horses in a bachelor band, including my favorite, Traveler (not pictured here). They were not very close in, but it was delightful watching them as they started play-fighting with each other. I think this rough play will later benefit them later as they mature and seek to start their own bands. A painterly effect has been subtly blended in, mostly to the background to soften the image and provide more contrast.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
