Description
I titled this photograph, Butterfly Ripple, a play upon the butterfly effect from chaos theory that states a hurricane's formation can be contingent upon the flutter of a butterfly's wings.
I like to think of it in terms of the ripple effect, or each living thing rippling outward, touching others who touch others, like ripples in a water, thereby connecting all of us. The good one person does affects all of us. The hurtful things another person does affects all of us.
This orange butterfly was moving around the lavender plant blossom in a partly shaded area in the sunny afternoon. With the telephoto lens, the background becomes abstract, and by using another photo of mine of the ripples in the river water, and by combining multiple layers with different blending options and masks, I was able to create this unique result.
