Description
Cormorant Taking Off
A sole double crested cormorant takes off from a rock. Cormorants dive under the water for fish. Their feathers are not waterproof, so they must spend time drying their wings out. Once threatened by the use of DDT, they are now recovered and common. A painterly layer was blended in for effect.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
