Description
Crossing Paths with a Black-Tailed Deer
I was coming back up a trail that was blocked with snow at Mount Rainier National Park when I felt a presence coming towards me on the path. Looking up I saw a deer coming my way. I moved off the path so she could pass me which she did. The deer behind Paradise Lodge are more used to hikers and tourists as they are in a safe environment. Still I was surprised by how calm this one was and how close it came.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.

Great capture but he is so lean looking Belinda!!

I think it is a young doe, Ruth. It actually looks pretty healthy to me. There is still snow melting on the mountain too, so it will have time to fatten up.
