Frenchglen is an unincorporated community in Harney County in southeast Oregon. It was named after a livestock company in 1872. It is near Malheur Wildlife Refuge and Steens mountain. The area is teeming with large numbers of birds. There are also pronghorn antelope, wild horses, coyote and big horned sheep. Frenchglen community is also situated at the north end of the Steens Mountain Loop that ascends almost to the mountain summit at 9000 ft. The population is estimated to be 12.
The community has a hotel, the Frenchglen Hotel, a state heritage site. The hotel was built in 1924.
It is a picturesque town overlooking this view.
