Description
Indian Runner Ducklings No. 1
These are Indian Runner Ducklings, domestic ducks and waterfowl that originated in the East Indies. They are unusual because they stand upright like a Penguin rather than waddling and also have very high egg production (100-200 eggs/year). However, they do not build nests but rather just dropping them wherever! They can be seen depicted in 17th century Dutch paintings and also were probably the source for Beatrix Potter's Jemina Puddle-Duck.
This brother and sister were two of four new farm pets that my sister and her husband acquired.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
