Description
Koi - Head and Tail
These Amur carp were seen in a Portland garden pond. They were bred for color in Japan in the 1820s. In 1914, a local display of these fish at a local exposition in Tokyo raised the interest and today they are decorative features in Japanese Garden ponds throughout the world. Their colors make them vulnerable to predators, and when released back to the wild, they revert to the natural colors of the carp within a few generations (Information from Wikipedia).

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
