Description
Malheur Lake Basin Replenished
There are wild expanses of lands in Harney County, ranging from farm fields, sagebrush fields, hi desert and flood plains, to Steens Mountain rising 9700 feet. This is Malheur Lake Basin, where a ancient (Pleistocene) Malheur Lake used to be. Now the lake can be either non existent in this area as it was last year, or a smaller footprint as it was this year with more plentiful rain, but a far cry to what it was historically when this whole area would have been covered. The ancient lake depression covers 5300 sqare miles or an area larger than the state of Connecticut.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
