Description
McKenzie River Regeneration Two Years After a Fire, No. 1
Fall color from cottonwoods and maples dresses up a forested area whose conifers have been largely decimated by a devastating fire two years. The fire was caused by electric lines falling in high winds and moving quickly to burn 768 homes or businesses and huge swaths of forested lands. Mine was one of these. It took nearly a year for the Oregon Dept. of Transportation to remove hazardous trees that presented a danger (near highways). Many dead trees on remain on public and private land They will provide shade to new trees, their roots still help to prevent erosion, and their decomposition will benefit the soil.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
