Description
Mother Mallard and her Brood, No. 1
The river was full of life. I had just seen newborn chicks in a Steller's Jay's nest, and a group of about 20 Dusky Canada Geese in the river, an Osprey perched in a Douglas Fir, when I noticed some movement from tiny objects in the river downstream. Moving close I found this mother Mallard duck with her brood of seven chicks. I don't know how she manages to keep track of them. Three would take off swimming while two wandered the water's shoreline and the other two moved up to the bank to take a nap. She's got her wings full!

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
