Description
Moving the Brood
It's the time for new life for the Dusky Canada Geese in Central Oregon. I saw several broods of goslings, from tiny to larger sized. These protective parents and their brood were seen at Smith Rock. The parents were moving their brood downriver. They were so tiny, but goslings, once born, can immediately start to feed themselves and swim as well. They won't fledge for 6-9 weeks. One of the parents is in the front and one in the back usually. One little one started to swim towards the grass at the bank, and the one parent at the back stayed back until it caught up with the others. A light painterly layer was blended in to soften the image.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
