A wild horse from the Palomino Buttes Herd in Oregon - The HMA waterhole here has dwindled to a fraction of its full size and the mustangs have to wade out through thick mud to get to the clear water, thus the stockings. The background has been subtly textured.

Beautifully captured wild horse and description. I hope they're able to find a new source for water.

Yes, most of the other horses in this herd, especially the familial bands, are further afield on the HMA near a trough that was fortunately set up by BLM and a local rancher.
