Description
Reticulated Giraffe
The reticulated giraffe is one subspecies. Unlike the Masai or Rothschild giraffe, its markings are large clearly defined polygonal darker reddish shapes bordered by white. Also unlike the Masai giraffe, its conservation status is vulnerable. The Rothschild Giraffe, whose markings are less clearly defined, has even fewer numbers than the Reticulated Giraffe and is listed as endangered.
Two other versions are available - black and white and one that lists the Conservation status.
Studies have proven that giraffe's neck and height did not evolve to become longer in order to reach the highest leaves but more likely to see predators and as a result of necking. During mating seasons, male giraffes compete for females using their necks, slamming them into each other. The males with the stronger necks win.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
