Salt River Foal Finding A Spot to Rest
The mare and stallion of this small band of four looked very thin with ribs clearly showing. Three mustangs we had seen down river earlier were in better shape. Here this year's foal has found a spot to rest while his parents and sibling continue to graze.The Salt River wild horses were nearly all rounded up in 2015, but that was prevented due to an outspoken and dedicated group of volunteers who advocated on their behalf and who still monitor them. I hope on my next Arizona visit, I get to spend more time with them.
