Spirit of a Redwood
Some of the redwoods along the Simpson-Reed Trail in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in Northern California are 2000 years old. They tower, majestically above the forest floor, rich with ferns. Some of the redwoods in the park have survived fire and other natural disasters, while this grove escaped the lumber industry. The Simpson Reed family is the fifth largest largest landowner in America, owning 1.37 million acres across California, Oregon and Washington states (2017).
