Description
Springbok Seeing Danger
Two Springbok had come down to the Sueda waterhole, oblivious to the danger that lurked behind a bank of rocks to the northeast of the water - a whole pride of lions, 8-10 were hidden, except for the one cub who they didn't see sitting top the rocks. Other animals, including many more Springbok and an Oryx and an Hartebeest were also making their way down. The lions did not attack, perhaps knowing the Springbok could easily outrun them as they were also on the other side of the waterhole, or perhaps waiting for the slower Hartebeest or Oryx to come closer. At any rate, one Springbok did sight the cub (shown in this image), and I don't know how that information was transmitted to all the other animals, but most started turning around and either heading back up the hill or heading to the north. and the lions went back to relaxing. See my Namibia and Botswana collection for the whole series.
