Description
The Departure, No. 4
This Spring this area, home to the wild horses of the Palomino Buttes herd, was so much greener than last year and the horses are probably further afield since more waterholes are available to them. Luckily the horses I saw belonged to my favorite band of the Palomino Buttes Herd although there have been some changes, the most notable was that the 3 year old Pallaton was not with his family and may have been booted out which is normal but sad as this was a very loving horse family.
This series shows the band arriving at a waterhole, but before they settle in, they seem to hear something to the north, and they turn around and leave. There was a truck parked there with no driver, so it's possible that person was out there, or there were cattle in the area. This band was not so skittish last year, but the two foals were very young, so they may be been in a protective mode.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
