Description
The Price and Prize of Living Free
These two mustangs seemed old and a bit worn out as they hung around the waterhole, grazing on the minerals in the soil. They showed a lot of affection with each other, but you can see on the lighter horse that he had been is a nasty fight recently with open wounds. As another band came in, the two livened up as they greeted the other horses. There has been a drought, and most of the horses are not around the usual waterhole, just a muddied puddle of what it usually is. The other horses are further afield somewhere where a neighboring rancher and BLM has established a trough for the horses. Despite their tired gait, these two seemed in fairly good shape, weight wise, which will help them face the oncoming harsh winter. The Price - the sometimes harsh life, injuries, elements; the prize - the familial and band relationships with the other horses and freedom.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.

shows wonderful love between the horses, very sad they have such a harsh life, very good they are free. I would love to take them and just feed and show them love!
