Description
The Trumpeter Swan
This is the heaviest bird native to North America. It looks remarkably similar to the Tundra Swan, but the Tundra Swan has a yellow spot at the base of its beak, and the Trumpeter's is larger and its neck twice as long. In the 1933 the known numbers of the Trumpeter Swan was at 70, but then in the 1950s population of several thousand in Alaska's Copper River area was discovered in an aerial survey. Wildlife agencies reintroduced the species into various areas, and now the population numbers are about 46,000.
This image has an enhanced painterly effect mostly to the background.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
