Description
Yellow Bellied Marmot At Its Lookout, No.1
I've been to Malheur and the Steens Mountain Wilderness several times before and never seen the Yelllow-bellied Marmot there, but this time I saw two. The first one was too fast and disappeared in rocks before I could sight it with my camera. This one actually took its time to pose for me. The second image is equally cute! Check it out!
The Yellow-bellied Marmots spend about 80% of their time in their burrow and their range can be 4-7 acres. They weight between 4-11 lbs with the males being larger than females, and they can live up to 15 years. This one was definitely on the larger side!

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
