Young Raptor
I was out giving my dog her last walk of the day in the woods near my house when we heard a rustling in some bushes. She went over to investigate and out flow a large dark bird that perched over my head in a fir tree. I ran to get my camera and he was still perched on the branch. I wish the light was better, but I was surprised to find this juvenile Falcon. I think now it is a Merlin Falcon because of its small size. Initially Merlin App identified it as a Peregrine, but after some feedback and checking with the Lane County Audobon, the consensus is that it may be a Red Shouldered Hawk or Merlin. Since it was fairly small, I'm thinking the latter.
