We caught up to Crimp in a meadow that was on a far side of a creek that we had to wait for certain times of day to cross as it was so deep. There was a lot of wildflowers, grass in the center and you could look down to the creek and back towards the main meadow. There was also an eagle hanging at the top of the tree. Crimp's cubs were pretty well hidden in the wildflowers and high flora, mostly lying down and sometimes one of the heads would poke out or they would briefly stand. She must have told them to stay there while she moved about grazing. At one point the eagle screamed, making both heads pop up. Later Crimp moved into the meadow where the cubs could be seen more a bit more clearly and was peaceful, even after another female bear came into the field causing some consternation for the cubs.

Then a big male appeared, nicknamed Big Red,, and things got tense very quickly. The two guides gathered the our two groups in a tight group and they stepped to the front. The big male came right by us and as the guides calmly told the bear to move along, it started to huff and click. Quite a sound to hear first hand. I was more tense for the cubs as the mother had decided to take a nap and didn't wake up right away. Boars can kill the cubs in order to force a sow into estrus. Luckily it seemed the big boar was after the other female who had since disappeared and he kept sniffing around for her as Crimp moved her cubs off to safety.
