Description
Beaver at Lake McDonald
While we didn't catch a spectacular sunset at Lake McDonald, we were treated to a sight of these two beavers. Initially, I thought they were nutria or coypu as I wasn't able to see their tail. But after one swam back and forth, giving its tail a flap, I realized these were two beavers getting the last of their feeding in before heading out for their bedtime.
Beavers are the second largest rodent, (after the capybara which I saw once in Peru). They can be quite destructive. Recently, my neighbor has experienced them going after huge trees on his property, circumference over 4 feet, but generally not the firs. He has had about 7 large trees that either fell down after being chewed away by beavers or are close to falling down. Usually they won't go after the big trees.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
