Black Bear Cubs in a Tree
This black bear and her two coy (cubs of the year) were the most delightful bear encounter that we had (or two encounters). This was the first encounter, when we were looking for the cubs we had heard about. We were looking for white trees, and saw these two dead trees and then saw the cubs in the tree. Their mom was at the base of a nearby tree. Later that day we came back, and the trio had moved up the road and further away from it. Despite the fact that they were less visible and further away, it was joyful to watch them as the cubs were much more active, chasing each other, playing ring around the tree, and tumbling over one another while mom grazed. Then mom even lay down and was playful with them as well. I just wish I had a bigger lens!
