The forecast for my Kauai, Hawaii vacation had been rain, rain, rain, for the whole week, but on the second day, the weather suddenly cleared for four days, and it was lovely. There are many sights to see and things to do on Kauai - beautiful uncrowded beaches, challenging hikes, whales, dolphins, birds, and even mountain goats, along with lots and lots of roosters, hens and chicks. One of the most magical places on earth, rain or shine, Kauai is lush and tranquil.
The mother hen was looking for crumbs from my morning breakfast with her brood. These chicks were at that awkward stage, no longer cute and fluffy, and still lacking their full plumage. I had to laugh though when this one hopped up on its mother's back. She didn't seem to mind!
