Description
Laysan Albatross in Princeville
Some of the Laysan Albatross will nest right on the lawns in the golf course and the neighborhoods in Princeville. It seems like a risky proposition as dogs and cats could be predators. However, the residents tend to be highly protective of these birds. They also can sometimes be found on the bluffs, cliffs near the coast as it is easier for them to take off to fly from there. Without a wind, it can be difficult for them to take to flight on a flat surface. They are amazing gliders and can fly great distances without having to flap their wings much. They also have long lives. The oldest albatross is over 65 years old.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
