I was driving down the Cassiar Highway in British Columbia when I spotted something in the road ahead that looked like a chicken. I slowed and moved closer in the car not wanting to startle the bird and tried to get my camera to get a picture. This grouse was doing a mating dance, slowing strutting and turning in circles while displaying his tail feathers. He became aware of me pretty quickly and moved off the road. As he left the road, I spotted the female grouse for whom he was performing by the side of the road. So cool to see. Later identified as a Spruce Grouse, apparently rare for the area. Saw so much wildlife near the Cassiar Highway which had no traffic and great scenery. The only thing was trying to get close enough for pictures without startling them.
