Olivia - Pryor Mustangs
I believe this is Oliva born in 2014. When I first processed this, I thought it was Odakota as their faces look so similar, but I noticed later I had made a mistake. Olivia has a small star and also primitive zebra-like markings on her legs. They are not even from the same mother. Odakota, though timid, was curious about us and seemed stronger, while Olivia seemed more frail.
The Pryor Mustangs reside on Pryor Mountains in Wyoming and Montana. The herd of about 170 horses consists of several bands of stallions with mare(s) and offspring, bachelor bands. The herd has probably lived on the mountains since at least the late 1600s. The Pryor herd is verified by DNA analysis to be descended from Colonial Spanish Horses. The herd also has a higher than normal genetic diversity and low inbreeding. They are managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Every four years there is a count.
