Redwood Survivor
Part of the story of this massive redwood's life can be read in its bark, which shows signs of fire, rot, and the weather it has endured in the hundreds of years it as survived. As a fire victim, I am seeing trees barely touched by fire in my area cut down and I shudder to think whether there would be any redwoods left if man had been around hundreds of years ago to cut down these giants without giving them a chance for survival.
