Description
Still Holding On
What's left of one of the many majestic trees that were cut down when the Detroit Lake Dam was built in 1953. Yet over 60 year later, the roots still cling the earth of the currently dry lake bed (at this level) and still clutch a rock. I found the lines of the root ball beautiful as were many of the other root balls, some looking like weird octopod creatures. Behind the root ball, you can see the Willamette National Forest. Detroit Lake will be undergoing modification to improve water temperatures for the fish life there, and water levels will be kept very low.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
