Description
To the Waterhole
A band of South Steens mustangs run towards the watering hole on Steens Mountain in Eastern Oregon. As I neared the waterhole in my car, picking my way gingerly on the rutted, rocky dirt road that led to the waterhole, I saw a band of horses heading towards the waterhole. I stopped my car so they could cross the road. Behind me, another band was also crossing the road to head down the hill towards the water with a completely different background as I looked back "Horses Running On Steens Mountain." Some bands are perfectly fine with other bands at the waterhole. They pick their spots. Other times, a band will come in, and the bands that are there will pull back and depart, only to return after the other band has gone.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
