Description
I had seen one large group of Onaqui mustanges further down the road, but as I was leaving the area, scores of wild horses came rushing towards the waterhole and Simpson Springs from the hills in clusters of 5-10 amid thick clouds of dust. I was so startled as I had been by the area earlier and it had been empty except for pronghorn. If you've ever watched wild horses, you know they get espeecially amped up when gathering at a waterhole as various bands start to interact, old friends or family members greet each other, and stallions spar and establish dominance. Harem bands arI changeable as colts get kicked out, mares get stolen, but the relationships are real and long lasting. These images are some of the interactions between the Onaqui mustangs.
