Description
The fog was so heavy when I arrived at Snake River, I could only make out the shadows of Grizzly 610 and her three cubs when the fog shifted and grey shadowy figures would appear. Then the bears disappeared beyond a ridge, and aseveral minutes later 610 emerged at the waters edge, with one cub and than the others following. The sun had risen slightly but the fog was still pretty heavy. One cub overtook her. and swam out in front of the others. The fog made autofocusing difficult, so I had to switch to manual focusing. It was only seconds before they made it to the other shore and started shaking off the water. I have another series that shows a bit later in the morning when they are seen at Willows Flat and the fog has lifted slightly. It was a magical experience to see them. I had seen them earlier in Spring and was also amazed at how big the cubs had gotten.
